A clean RV exterior starts with a clean RV roof
If you keep your RV roof clean, you will help keep your entire RV looking great year after year. Algae, moss and tree pollen build up over the winter and spring can turn a clean white RV roof into a nasty mess.
How To Keep The RV Roof Clean Throughout The Year
Pressure washing is really the most efficient method I’ve found to quickly clean a dirty roof. Keeping a small pressure washer on board your RV can save you time and effort, especially for those hard-to-reach spots.
Condition your Rubber Roof
After a good cleaning, I also apply a coat of rubber roof cleaner after the power wash to condition the roof and protect it from the elements.
Inspect Your Roof and Repair Worn Out Seals
Take some time while you’re up on the roof to inspect all of your water tight seals. Reinforce or re-seal as needed to protect from any potential water damage. For big sealing jobs, I recommend you use Dicor Lap Sealant. I keep a tube handy at all times. For smaller patch jobs, exterior latex caulk works.
Here are some things you may need
Compact Pressure WasherKeeping a small pressure washer on-hand can make washing and roof cleaning jobs a breeze. You'll be able to wash off gunk even in the hardest to reach places. |
Rubber Roof ConditionerOnce the surface is relatively clean, I apply a coat of rubber roof conditioner for added protection throughout the year. Just wipe or brush it on and wash it off. Be sure to rinse the sides of your RV afterwards as well. |
Dicor Lap SealantRepair any worn or loose seals with a coat of Dicor. I keep a spare tube handy at all times. Tip: Apply it in warm weather or use a hair dryer to heat it up if it's cold. |
